Graphic Arts/Digital Design
Graphic designers use technology to create computer-generated images that can be used to design billboards, posters, product illustrations, logos, cartoons, and more.
Graphic designers inform, persuade, stimulate, attract and provide compelling works of digital art. Learning Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop software allows students to use their imaginations and creativity in a digital format. This course provides instruction on creation, editing from concept to finished product, and also explores career opportunities in this exciting field.
This course may be repeated, with instructor approval.
Those taking THREE semesters of Graphic Arts/Digital Design throughout their high school career have the opportunity to earn specialist certification in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. This certification gives students a commanding competitive edge in today’s academic and professional environments.

Consumer Economics
CONSUMER ECONOMICS – ½ Credit Meets the state-mandated requirement for consumer education (05 ILCS 5/27-12.1). Consumer Economics is a specialized course designed to prepare students to understand the United States economic system and how it affects individuals as consumers, producers and citizens. Students will integrate knowledge, skills and practices required for management of resources in a technologically expanding global economy. Consumer practices and responsibilities are investigated and skills in planning for financial security are included in the content. Common Core skills in decision making, problem solving, critical thinking, goal setting, management of multiple roles and using technology are integrated into course content. Units of Study: Consumer in the Marketplace, Consumer in our Economy, Budgeting, Saving, Investing and Financial Services, Consumer Credit, Taxes, Insurance/Housing, and Transportation.
